Belly Dancing for Fitness and Health


~ Fitness ~

Belly Dancing is not only fun, but it is also a great form of exercise.  It can burn as many calories as jogging or riding a bike, and it is incredibly effective at toning the body.  Belly dancing will not bulk you up, but rather it will lengthen your body while it strengthens the muscles in the arms, shoulders, back, abdominals, obliques, glutes and legs, all the while improving flexibility.  Belly Dancing for the most part is low impact, and it is less strenuous on the body than weight lifting.  It's also much more entertaining than using a treadmill or sitting on a bike at the gym!  



~ Build Confidence ~

Belly Dancing will help you learn to appreciate your womanly curves and find the power that lies within your femininity.   As you tone your arms, define your abs and obliques, strengthen your core and master the shimmy, you learn to use your body in ways that you did not think was possible before.  Your confidence will increase as you improve your belly dancing skills, strengthen your body, and increase your flexibility.



~ Find Peace ~

As women, we were given the precious ability to be able to forgo our own wants, desires and pleasures to ensure that our loved ones are satisfied first.  But many times this gift causes us to sacrifice any time for ourselves.  Belly dancing enables us to reclaim a little of this lost time, and shift the focus away from our husbands, our families, our jobs or whatever it is that occupies our minds.  Belly dancing enables us to empty the mind and center it's focus within our bodies, and it reminds us what amazing power lies within our beautiful shape and ability to move.

The belly dancing community is comprised of fabulous women of all sizes, shapes, ages and backgrounds.  It is an art that has been perfected over centuries, and it is a beautiful celebration of the feminine spirit!
